The "SSWTR Detangling Technique” from CurlRev®
What’s the SSWTR Detangling Process?
“Separate, Slide, Wiggle, Twist, Repeat” (SSWTR) Technique by CurlRev®
Great for all hair types - Naturally Kinky, Curly, Wavy, Straight & Every Hair Type In Between!
So, a creative follower had us blushing at our Separate, Slide, Wiggle, Twist, Repeat post. Let’s just say they thought we brought some added pleasure to the finger detangling process.
Well, we think we actually did! Because who doesn’t love a good thorough detangle, popping twist-out and braid-out?
Stop the love-hate relationship with detangling!
As you know, during the typical detangling process using a comb, brush or bare finger, you’d just pull the tool through your hair…which can be ineffective (as detangling with your bare fingers) and/or damaging (with the comb or brush that was not designed for your hair type).
at CurlRev®, we enhanced the detangling & styling process by creating a more effective, yet gentle, all-in-one tool!

So what’s this CurlRev® Sswtr Process all about and why is it different?
During the typical detangling process, you’d first separate your hair into smaller sections for manageability. Check!
Next, you’d typically start at the ends or roots pulling your strands apart to undo tangles and knots or to pull away any shed strands. Check!
Here is Where it gets interesting: The sswtr technique by curlrev®
SEPARATE:
Once you SEPARATE out a small section of hair with your Detangling & Styling Tool (D&ST) from CurlRev® you can now gently…
SLIDE:
Coat with your favorite haircare products, then SLIDE your DS&T down your strands, moving your products along the hair shaft all while separating, detangling and coating strands as you go.
You’ll be able to feel the knots on the pads of your fingertips. Why is this important?
You can address the knots before your hair gets yanked causing damage to roots, split ends, breakage.
WIGGLE:
Ok so you’ve come to a knot, now gently WIGGLE your fingers back and forth to encourage the knot to separate and untangle moving the knot or loss hair down to the ends lowering the risk of damage.
This will help to cut down on the amount of hair lost during the typical detangling process.
A girl likes options! So…
TWIST:
You can also TWIST like you’re creating a curl or coil once you come to a knot. The special design of the DS&T bendy tips flex with your hair to gently release any tangles and knots.
It’s that simple!
REPEAT:
Now REPEAT with the next section of hair and before you know it, you’ve thoroughly and gently detangled your hair.
Tip: Get the best of both worlds
Start with the CurlRev SSWTR process before brushing or combing your hair. This will increase your chances to preserve your strands to build volume and length.
